Cross-Engine Networking?


Hi, it’s my first day using SpatialOS and i would like to know if it works Cross-Engine ? Like some players on Unity and Others on CryEngine but in the same battlefield ?

Yes! This is totally possible with SpatialOS!

The practical use for this might be clients on different hardware (e.g. mobile companion app/full-blown client) still connecting to the same game world.

A slightly different but common scenario we see is using a conventional game engine for the clients and managed server workers, but complimenting them with language workers (C#, C++, Java etc) for some of the systems which don’t need full engines (e.g. chat, inventory, AI).
