Large landscapes in UE4

unreal
#1

Hi,

I’m currently trying out SpatialOS for a potential game, and was wondering how to best design the world with the multi server architecture in mind.

I’m aiming for a 16km by 16km map, and I can either use four landscapes in a single level (max landscape size is 8k by 8k), or I can split it up over several (streaming) levels. What’s the best practice for large worlds with SpatialOS?

Hi @Mickelukas,

We would recommend you use the way large worlds in native Unreal are traditionally set up, which is using World Composition and letting the World Composition system handle streaming levels in and out.

Makes sense. Can several spatial worker processes handle one level? Do they then split the work up using coordinates or something?
